It's time for us to set them free and say goodbye!

Every time this moment comes, many of you tell us that they couldn't do it, that it would be difficult for them, that they wouldn't know how to handle the separation after 1 year of caring for and saving the lives of these beautiful animals.

We understand, but at Fundación Chuwie, our main goal is to give them a second chance. This means doing everything we can to restore their health and now return them to their natural habitat.

After a year, the date is approaching. Four of our sloths are ready to go. But we don’t want to release them without knowing how they will do.

That's why we need to buy tracking equipment , so we can monitor the sloths and see if our rehabilitation work was effective.

It would be sad if, after a long time of rehabilitation, protection, and care, we release them without knowing if they will succeed.

That’s why we want to strengthen all our efforts, review our sloth release protocols, and be able to track how they’re doing—whether they’ve returned to their wildlife or, if necessary, bring them back to prevent them from dying due to lack of care.

Hati, Gordo, María Codito, and Rodilla deserve to live freely, and we need to ensure they can.

So, we are starting this crowdfunding campaign to buy the equipment that will allow us to track these four sloths after their release. We want you to be part of the process and see how they adapt to their wildlife .

A VHF signal receiver with its antenna

10 signal-emitting backpacks

1 drone to observe the animals in the trees

100 identification chips for future releases

Nos toca liberar y decirles Adiós!

Siempre que llega este momento muchos nos dicen que no podrían hacerlo, que se les hace difícil, que no sabrían manejar el desapego después de 1 año de cuidos y haberlos salvado.

Los entendemos, pero estamos claros que en Fundación Chuwie, nuestro mayor objetivo es darles unas segunda oportunidad y eso significa haber hecho todo lo posible por recuperar su salud y ahora devolverlos a su hábitat natural.

Después de 1 año, se acerca la fecha. Ya son 4 de nuestros protegidos que están listos para irse. Pero no queremos liberarlos sin poder saber cómo se desenvuelven.

Es por esto que deseamos comprar equipos de seguimiento, para de esta forma, poder saber cómo están los perezosos y si nuestra labor de rehabilitación fue adecuada.

Sería triste que después de muchos meses de rehabilitación, de protección, de cuidados los liberamos y no saber si lo lograran.

Es por ello que queremos dar más fuerza a todas nuestras acciones, a revisar los protocolos que hemos manejado de liberación de perezosos y poder saber cómo están, si han retomado su condición de silvestre, o en el caso de ser necesario, recuperarlos y traerlos de vuelta para evitar que mueran por falta de cuidados.

El objetivo es poder comprar los equipos que nos permitan tras la liberación, hacer seguimiento del proceso de rehabilitación por varios meses sobre las condiciones, en las que estos de los 4 perezosos que ustedes han conocido su proceso, se encuentran en su vida silvestre.
