Support My Endometriosis Surgery & Recovery Journey
Hello wonderful humans of the world,
I'm reaching out to share a bit about my journey with endometriosis, a chronic illness that has been affecting me since 2018. Endometriosis brings with it severe pelvic pain, fatigue, and unbearable period pain, which have been challenging to manage despite my best efforts. In 2022, I underwent laparoscopic surgery to treat the condition, which provided relief for about 12 months.
However, since February 2024, my symptoms have been worsening, making it difficult for me to lead the magical creative life I've worked so hard to build. Recently, I found myself in the emergency room due to unmanageable pain, leading to an urgent need for surgery. Scheduled for May 16th, the laparoscopic surgery aims to remove the returning endometriosis.
The past few months have brought unexpected medical expenses and forced me to take time off work, including stepping back from lecturing for the rest of the semester. Looking ahead to the next six weeks of surgery and recovery, I'm faced with financial uncertainty.
Could you donate to help fund my surgery?
Your support, no matter the size, will be immensely appreciated. Donations will go towards covering surgical bills, medication, and living expenses during recovery. For donations over $100, I'll express my gratitude by sending you a signed artist's print of 'Waves Are Disturbances'.
My goal is to spend six weeks in recovery and then embark on a trip to Europe. For the past two years, I've been planning to attend three major dance festivals, receive choreographic mentorship, and present my work on an international stage for the first time. This journey is crucial as I prepare to launch my own company, Zoë Bastin Dance.
The more funds I can raise, the closer I am to realising this dream and continuing to build a creative life I'm proud of.
I'm incredibly grateful for my chosen family and loving community, knowing that I can reach out for help. I firmly believe in the power of mutual aid and eagerly anticipate the day when I can return the favor.
With heartfelt gratitude in advance and all my love,
Zoë
