Help us fundraise for our Senior Thesis project, "Worse Than Death"!

We are a group of college students from the University of Colorado - Denver raising money for our capstone project. Our film is currently in pre-production and is set to start filming in late September.

LOGLINE:

Luanne attempts to escape from her abusive marriage, but as things go sideways, she must determine what her life and her faith really mean to her.

CONFLICTS:

Luanne Zacher is a very religious and meek Southern woman who wouldn't dare go against what the Bible or her husband says. Mark Zacher is a power-hungry individual who cherry-picks from the Bible and has been abandoned by most of society; he believes that since he was born a man, he has a God-given birthright to own other beings and treat them how he wants without punishment. As Luanne suffers his abuses, she has to decide how much longer she will live with the treatment and how she will get away.

THEMES:

"Worse Than Death" is a dramatic horror short film adaptation where "Final Destination" meets "Sleeping With The Enemy" meets "The Ritual." Themes of this short include:

・Spousal abuse

・Animal abuse

・Religious hypocrisy

・Supernatural entities

WHY NOW:

In our current climate, there is a rise in religious hypocrisy and a more visible lens on spousal abuse. Numerous people are still afraid to speak against their abusive partners while many others may see their natural state as an opportunity to take advantage of other beings. With this project, we seek to encourage those mistreated to stand up or seek help for their situations while telling those who harm what may happen to them if they continue their actions.

WHY THE FUNDRAISER:

This short film has already been approved by the school and the IP holders; we are planning for it to be shown to audiences and film festivals. The funds we're trying to raise and disperse go as such:
