Hello! My name is Kalinda, and I'm the owner of Wishing Well Entertainment and Parties, a home-based business in Pasadena, CA. Since we opened our doors in 2012, we’ve been proud to provide high-quality, magical performances of all kinds, especially for families and children (to date, we’ve had the honor of booking over 7,000 events and counting). Our performers are truly exceptional people and uniquely good at what they do - the vast majority of them have worked full-time in this craft, and I firmly believe that it’s their integrity, talent, attention to detail, and genuinely kind hearts that have made a lasting difference for thousands of people of all ages.

With your help, our small company made it through the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, two entertainment strikes, rising inflation, and other significant losses over the last five years. Right now, our beloved communities, with thousands of good and hardworking people, are facing a challenge unlike ANY we’ve encountered before. The recent fires in Los Angeles have devastated our surrounding neighborhoods and almost entirely erased the cities of Altadena and Pacific Palisades (our neighboring city Altadena is estimated to have lost over 7000 structures alone). This has also affected the homes and livelihoods of several of our talented performers. As of January 16th, 2025, it’s estimated that 100,000 people are still displaced, and thousands of children have lost their schools with many also losing their homes AND all the things of safety and comfort they usually turn to in times like this: toys, local parks, special programs, libraries, belongings, etc. These things all brought much comfort during the pandemic lockdown, and now those are also gone.

In times like these, we turn to the things that give us hope, and for children, those things often come in the form of the heroes they admire from fairytales, myths, and stories. At Wishing Well, we’ve always believed in the power of characters to bring joy, hope, and comfort. During the pandemic, we introduced "Character Comfort Chats"; our trained performers, portraying beloved characters, offered personal, one-on-one conversations with children through Zoom, helping them process a wide range of difficult emotions and events. Today, we are bringing this concept back, and would love your support in making this happen.

I am raising funds for two vital purposes:

1. Supporting Our Performers:

A few of our full-time performers are currently displaced, unable to work, and have no idea when they will be able to safely return home or what furniture/belongings/supplies/items they will be able to save, as the fires left extensive toxic matter behind as well. If/when they are indeed able to return, they will need extensive PPE as well (masks, clothes coverings, specialized equipment for cleanup, etc.).

Our performers are at the heart of what we do, and we want to ensure they have the resources to get back on their feet. Your donations will provide direct financial assistance to them and cover specific items they need.

2. Wishing Wellness Visits:

We also want to continue providing hope and comfort to children who have been affected by all of this devastation. With many local schools, daycares, and community centers in need, we plan to bring our comforting in-person character appearances to these spaces. I am also putting together training and guidance for our performers so they can sensitively speak with children about current events, helping them process their emotions while bringing some much-needed inspiration and joy into their lives. With your kindness and generosity, we are hoping that the Wishing Wellness Visits will be provided at no cost to these organizations and also take care of our performers who are trying to stay on their feet and work through this.

All funds raised will go DIRECTLY to our performers and to supporting these crucial community visits. Your donation will not only help our performers recover and stabilize for the next few months, but it will also bring healing and joy to the children and families who need it most right now. It is estimated that rebuilding will take 6-18 months or longer in our area alone, so we are hoping to do as many of these visits as possible in the months to come.
