Hi, I’m Orlando Dixon. I’m a truth-teller, artist, and radical creative.
I’m raising funds to support the rollout of my new visual album, What Will I Create While the World Is on Fire. This is a revolutionary body of work created out of necessity, in the midst of regime collapse and global transformation.
This project is more than music. It’s a visual and educational experience designed to awaken, challenge, and heal. Entirely self-written, self-produced, self-mixed, and self-funded, this work blends my lived experience as a Black queer artist with the radical legacies of voices like Maya Angelou, James Baldwin, Malcolm X, Nina Simone, and Toni Morrison.
Over the next few months, I’ll be releasing four minimalist visualizers and companion educational episodes as part of two masterclass series:
“Creating Out of Necessity” and “The Role of the Artist in Modern Society.”
The goal is to inspire radical artists, creatives, intellectuals, teachers, historians, and truth-tellers to keep creating, and to collaborate in building a new ecosystem that truly serves the people.
But I can’t do it alone. If 1000 people donate $25, we’ll meet our Phase One goal of $25,000. That funding will allow me to:
Produce a visual performance album centered around the music and themes of the project
Create a short film that documents the process of “creating out of necessity,” showing how to execute high-value, high-quality art activism with limited resources
Establish an educational curriculum rooted in the role of the artist in modern society
Sustain the creative team helping bring this vision to life
Promote the project, secure clearances and licenses, and reach the audience this work was made for
This is just the beginning. Phase One funds the rollout. Phase Two expands the vision. It will involve partnerships with arts educators, grassroots organizations, and community institutions to take this work even further.
If you believe in radical art, Black liberation, historical preservation, and building outside existing structures of power, I invite you to be part of this.
Thank you for supporting this labor of love, liberation, and legacy.
