Hi, my name is Payne Eiler, and I am a student at the University of Washington studying Mechanical Engineering. I need your help raising money to fund my trip to Maryland to compete in the International Submarine Race.

This year, I’ve had the privilege of leading the Propulsion Team for the Human Powered Submarine (HPS) RSO, a student-led organization that designs, builds, and races submarines powered solely by human effort. As both team lead and a certified pilot/diver, I’ve dedicated over fifteen hours each week to designing, prototyping, and testing a highly efficient propulsion system that includes over 15 custom parts, many of which I developed through rapid prototyping and hands-on iteration.

Now, after months of hard work, our team has qualified to race our submarine in the International Submarine Race in Maryland, where we’ll represent UW and compete against other top engineering schools.

I’m currently raising funds to cover the cost of travel, lodging, and equipment transportation to Maryland. If you’re able to contribute, you won’t just be helping me get to a race — you’ll be investing in an aspiring engineer, a dedicated team, and the spirit of innovation and exploration.
