Help Fund Tuition for a Black Student-Midwife!
Peace + Love Family! My name is Bri Mobley and I am a mother, holistic doula, and student-midwife. My journey into birth work began with the traumatic birth of my daughter in 2015 (who's bubbly, alive + well!). I experienced a lot of physical and emotional pain and to date I am committed to my healing from the experience. In 2019, I founded my business, Birth Rite Wellness LLC , a doula and wellness collective. Birth work is a calling bigger than me...it's for my people and I'm honored to be a vessel of sacred black birth. The midwife is the first to lay hands on a new life and I do not take this blessing for granted.
We (black women) only represent 2% of midwives in the US. Home Birth midwives represent even less! I’m here to be the change! To add to the erasure the gap of black maternal mortality. I will be on track to become a Certified Professional Midwife, specializing in traditional home birth. I have been accepted to Midwives College of Utah and I begin school in a few weeks! I was blessed to have enough financial aid to get my through my first two semesters so I am reaching out to my community for financial support. The truth is, Midwifery education in the US is rooted in capitalism and white supremacy and has a strong hold on black folks and people of color. This is why many of us are fundraising for our birthright- education. Any contribution is MUCH appreciated and I give thanks in advance!
I have also opened an online merchandise store to help fund my midwifery schooling. My merchandise is another way to contribute to my school fund. If you'd like to support this way, you can HERE .
