Help Fund "Tithonia: A Lesbian Space Opera"

 

 

Fundraising Goal:

We are looking to raise $1500 for Skysail Theatre’s new show: Tithonia: A Lesbian Space Opera. This show premiered at the Asheville Fringe Arts Festival in March of 2022, and garnered an overwhelmingly positive audience response. "Tithonia" sold out each night and received two awards at the end of its run—one being The Asheville Fringe Fan Favorite. As an up-and-coming theatre company, we are looking to raise funds to cover the budget for future productions of this show, including our upcoming run at the Tampa International Fringe Festival. Show Description:

 

 

Tithonia: A Lesbian Space Opera is a new musical contrived by Skysail Theatre. It premiered at the Asheville Fringe Arts Festival in March of 2022 at the Magnetic Theatre.

 

This hour long show features original music, a romantic comedy of errors, and a race against time to survive, which all come together to create a story that soars beyond the stars.

 

The show features just three actors and a minimalist set design, using looping and layering techniques to create elaborate soundscapes to bring the audience fully into their realm.

 

Stepping aboard Tithonia, the audience will be swept into a futuristic world and an enemies-to-lovers plotline with a with a morally upright – and uptight – captain and a lovable mechanic. Trapped in a malfunctioning spaceship with an Artificial Intelligence interface gone rogue, our protagonists’ survival skills and budding romance are put to the ultimate test.

 

Skysail Theatre Company Bio:

A queer Asheville based company, Skysail Theatre is a multi-faceted group combing their talents and love for storytelling, music and theatre. Michelle Troszak, Lea Gilbert, and Terran Wanderer were brought together one fateful night in the summer of 2021 at the Odditorium where they discovered their mutual love for creating and the performing arts. This company brings a dash of outer space, a splash of humor, a little bit of gay, a lot a bit of silliness and whole lotta love.
