Workshop Production Campaign:

The Startup is a brand new musical about the marvels and pains of technological progress in modern society. A parody of the tech industry, while still addressing timely issues, the show navigates the humanity central to our relationships and the ways in which we interact with one another in the age of technology. The Startup explores pertinent themes around influencer culture, social media use, tech ethics, and data privacy, and what could happen if we are not mindful of how we use and create technology.

The Startup has two staged readings under its belt, and now it's time to put the show on its feet! We are raising funds to mount a workshop production of The Startup, which is an expensive endeavor here in New York City. Funds will go towards the theater rental, rehearsal space, paying our cast and crew, and marketing for the show.

Show Synopsis:

Chip Cooper is the CEO of Kazoo, an up-and-coming social media company that uses the power of digital fashion for users to express themselves. Along with his best friend, Edgar Moon, Chip is attempting to change the way the tech industry runs. But after a crucial investment falls through and influencers are brought in to create hype around the new app, including the former love interest of Chip, the future of Kazoo hangs in the balance.

A thought-provoking musical about the power that technology has over its billions of users, The Startup dissects the ways we interact with one another in the digital age and the greater implications to come if we don't hold Big Tech accountable.
