Support the Praise House Community

Families need meaningful experiences to release, connect, and share creatively. Where they can envision hope, exchange mutual love, share gratitude, self-reflect, and build collective praise. Such fellowship enhances mood, develops a sense of belonging, and reduces stress.

As a dance artist, I have used creativity in movement and imagination in art-making to develop coping mechanisms, leading me to express my understanding of self, community, and God as my dance of life. Over the past four years, I’ve connected my dance artistry with community engagement by organizing creative circle facilitations that encourage self-expression and discovery. I’ve led workshops at the Blue Door Neighborhood Center, Austin Town Hall, and the Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago to name a few.

The Praise House vision came during a time of grief after a family member's passing. His last words were "Find a way" and "Thank you, Lord." This deepened my prayer and praise life, helping me “find my way,” and meaning with my loss. It personally transformed my heart and understanding of God's love and purpose for my life.

Inspired by historical Praise Houses of the Black community, the Praise House Language Workshop is a space for community members, families, creatives, and care professionals to embrace God's presence, freely uplift themselves through praise, and from the heart beautify a deeper meaning of their relationship with God. Our workshops offer a playground of prayer and praise through movement, song, testimony, and art-making, building connections and a unique love language of worship.

We're excited to host our first Praise House Language Workshops at the Chicago Cultural Center! Developed over five months, these workshops merge care and creativity, led by Keisha Janae, Marceia Scruggs, Frederick Jackson, Ginger Lumpkin, Mandela Okere, Gloria Parker, Frank Morrison, Paige Brown, Izzy Brown, DJ Double 8, and Sam Thousand. We aim to provide a space for creative exploration and spiritual upliftment through dance, art, and song.

We need your support to cover critical costs, including performer and musician fees, art supplies, and production expenses. Join us in this journey of soulful expression rooted in praise. Whether you participate or donate, you'll find a welcoming community within our workshop.
