The Misery of Blaire Bishop is a 24 page drama short film. It follows Amelia, as she and her husband return to her childhood home, the Bishop house. The reason: the suicide of the youngest Bishop, Blaire. Blaire left Amelia a note, in which she blames a member of their family for her choice, although she doesn’t say who. Now, Amelia must investigate her politician mother, narcissistic brother, and failure of a father to try and figure out who or what is responsible for The Misery of Blaire Bishop. The film looks at what it means to be part of a family, and asks if toxic patterns and dynamics are ever truly repairable.
Support a group of Messiah University film students as we work through our senior film practicum written by Jimmy Huston and directed by Kieya Hakein. The budget for The Misery of Blaire Bishop will go towards feeding our crew, dressing our set, and ensuring that we create a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere for our production.
