My name is Joud Jamous, and I serve as the Co-President of Minorities in Medicine (MIM) at the University of South Florida. On behalf of our organization, I am excited to announce our fundraising campaign for the MIM Scholarship.
We acknowledge the significant financial burden college poses for students, especially those from minority groups. To help alleviate this, we have launched this GoFundMe with the goal of raising at least $500 to award to one active MIM member. This scholarship will assist with school expenses such as tuition, room and board, books, and more. Ideally, we hope to raise even more than this minimum goal, so that we can offer more scholarships in the future and continue to support MIM initiatives and projects that uplift underrepresented students in medicine.
MIM Mission Statement:
Minority groups are often identified by five traits: (1) unequal treatment and less control over their lives; (2) differentiating physical or cultural traits, such as skin color or language; (3) forced membership in the group; (4) awareness of subordination; and (5) a high rate of in-group marriage. These groups include, but are not limited to, the LGBTQ+ community, individuals with disabilities, and people who practice a minority religion where they live. Our mission at MIM is to unify USF students in the field of medicine who embody these traits, while fostering mentorship, advocacy, and community.
We invite you to support our cause. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Please consider donating and sharing this campaign to help us empower our members and further our mission.
Thank you for supporting USF Minorities in Medicine.
