Help Fund the Fight for Katie's Cure

I am friend of the Machin family and am hoping to help one of the kindest families that I know... and one that has been especially hard hit with cancer and other illnesses in recent years.

Katie went to the Munson ER on March 15th experiencing abdominal pain, her loving finance Mark by her side. Shockingly, a CT scan showed cancer throughout her young body, Munson was unable to help so they transferred her to the University of Michigan Medical Center where she has been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins B Cell Lymphoma. She has already received her first treatment and has been strong and determined to get better! U of M Hospital has been wonderful to our sweet Katie! The nurses are loving and the doctors are filling everyone with hope and confidence that they are able to treat her.

Katie lives and works full time in Traverse City. She and Mark have been planning their wedding for this August. Katie will be unable to work for the foreseeable future while she receives treatments and fights for her life. Mark, a very talented young craftsman, and business owner, will continue to be with Katie as much as possible taking breaks from work to be with her as she receives treatments. This young couple was working to save for a wedding, but now, in addition to not receiving a consistent income, they will also have the added expenses of travel, meals, lodging, medications, treatments and other out of pocket costs associated with this illness and treatment.
