Help Fund the Farewell of a Caring Nurse
Donation protected
Hello everyone. My Mother passed away on July 4th. She was 79 yrs old. She is a retired Surgical Nurse for 30 yrs. She took care of so many people in her life!
She got a septic infection and her body just couldn’t fight off the infection. She had 5 hospitalizations in 3 months. She fought as hard as she could. In the end though she decided to come home on hospice. She was tired of the hospital, tired of the ivs, tired of the tests and nothing helped. She came home on Wednesday June 26th. She was happy to be home! She slipped into a sort of coma state. Sunday the 30th was the last day that she was alert and functioning. On Monday she was awake for awhile but could no longer talk. She went to sleep Monday afternoon and did not wake up again. I took good care of her. She passed a little after 2 am on July 4th. Hayley and I were by her side and she wasn’t in pain. It was very difficult though.
Since she was in the hospital 5 times in 3 months, I wasn’t able to work very much. I am so grateful that I had that time with her and I wouldn’t change that for anything. Although since I took so much time off work, I don’t have the money now for the funeral home. She didn’t have any life insurance or retirement accounts. She was on social security. They were nice enough to give me till Monday to come up with the money. They are working with me and I am so grateful for that. I went today and planned everything out.
I appreciate any help that you could give us right now. God bless you all!
