We are proud to announce that the 7th Balkan Physics Olympiad (BPO) will take place from July 26 to July 30, 2025, in the beautiful lakeside city of Ohrid, Macedonia. This prestigious event brings together 65 of the most talented young physicists from across Southeast Europe and Asia, offering them a unique opportunity to challenge their knowledge, connect with their peers, and celebrate physics across borders.
What Is the Balkan Physics Olympiad?
The Balkan Physics Olympiad is an annual regional competition that gathers high school students from Balkan countries, providing them with advanced problems in theoretical and experimental physics. It is one of the key activities of the Balkan Physics Union, whose mission is to promote physics education and foster regional cooperation among young scientists.
Countries which will participate in the 2025 edition include: Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Moldavia Albania, Turkey and Cyprus, as a countries who are members of the Balkan physics union as well as students from the guest countries: Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.

Hosting the Olympiad in Macedonia is not just a national honor – it is an investment in youth, science, and regional cooperation.
Events like this inspire young talents to pursue careers in physics, engineering, and innovation.
They foster lasting friendships and promote scientific exchange across borders.
However, to make this possible, we need your support.
The President of Macedonia, the government, and the Ministry of Education and Science have expressed their support for the event and they have chosen not to provide financial assistance. As a result, we are turning to private companies and fundraising efforts to help make this event a reality.
What Your Contribution Will Support
Organizing an international event of this scale comes with significant expenses, estimated at approximately €27,000. So far, we have successfully raised €18,000. Your generous support will help us cover the remaining costs, including:
Accommodation and meals for students and team leaders
Transportation and local logistics
Printing of materials and promotional materials
Cultural activities and excursions for participants
