Help fund 'Tell Me Straight' by Paul Bradshaw
Hello everyone,
My name is Paul Bradshaw and I am a working-class actor, writer and director from London.
My play 'Tell Me Straight' has been programmed in the Queer Season at the wonderful King's Head Theatre in Islington between 17th-21st of August. I am thrilled to be able to share this story with audiences after such a tough year for the arts. I am mostly excited because for the first time since graduating as an actor in 2014 I will be working with a team made up of queer and/or working-class creatives, which is all the more reason why we'd love your support on this.
From the get go we wanted to make sure that everyone involved was being paid fairly and that's what we'd like to continue to do. Unfortunately, as a company we have had several setbacks in the run-up to rehearsals and our opening which is in less than three weeks' time!
We have just found out we didn't receive the much needed Arts Council funding we were hoping for and with the time frame, we can't reapply as the current wait time for projects is 8-10 weeks.
On top of that, our very generous offer of free rehearsal space has been pulled because of a delay in opening the studios which has meant our original budget has gone up by just under £1,000.
And of course, Covid has thrown a spanner in the works. We've now been told we will still be performing to socially distanced audiences which means even if we sell out at the current restricted capacity we will be operating at a substantial loss.
So, here's where you come in...
We're hoping to raise £3,500 to help cover the losses and new unexpected costs for the production. I know it has been a tough year for everyone but we'd be incredibly grateful for any and all donations you can give, however small (or big!)
I am a huge believer in generosity, it's how I managed to finish my three years of training at Mountview and whenever I see an actor who needs the help to train I donate without hesitation. The kindness within the theatre community never fails to blow me away and we'd be so grateful if you can help us.
So please give a little or a lot and share this far and wide so that we can bring our show to the stage.
PB x
p.s if you fancy coming along, tickets are still available via the link below and if you can't make it - then please throw a few quid in for the show.
