Hi sweethearts, friends and family,

after countless vet appointments we have finally determined that our beautiful, dramatic and tender dog Fungus needs ACL surgery. Last year we noticed a limp and are relieved to have a decisive course of action in place for him to to return to his normal function. It’s been a very restricted year for Gus. Growing up on a farm and mostly living as an off-leash pup, Gus has been doomed to prescribed leash walks and restricted from playing with his dearest friend, Fig. (Both Gus and Fig have had a confused last year as to why simple play is a “no”). It’s been a year of saying “no” to everything without careful consideration for Gus, a “no” to meeting and playing with dogs on walks, a “no” to simply running, you get the gist. We are confident that with this surgery he will make a full recovery and return to a pain-free, happy guy who can romp unrestricted and finally play with his friends again and smell all the smells. The last couple years have been really unstable financially, so I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and asking for help. The surgery is just over $5,000 (*gulp*) and the recovery time is an estimated 8-12 weeks. Fig thinks Gus is the bees-knees and bides constantly for his attention, which is why they will need to be almost completely separated during most of Gus’ recovery time. For us, this means someone will always need to be with Gus - staying home means no work for 8-12 WEEKS. We need some help. We just want to provide a life for Gus that he deserves. We love him an insane amount. Ya’ll know.
