Hi, I'm Jarod Smith, founder, game director and lead developer of No Damn Train. I'm developing **Shining FLUX**, an original 2D traditional fighting game in Godot.
I've already built a substantial part of the game's technical foundation myself, including its core combat systems, move-data architecture and development tools. My goal is to turn that foundation into a complete commercial fighting game featuring a **20-character launch roster**, rollback online play and professional-quality presentation.
## Why I'm fundraising
I can continue handling the game's programming and core development myself, but producing a commercial fighting game requires specialist work I can't reasonably do alone.
I'm raising **A$25,000 AUD** as an initial production milestone to begin commissioning professional contractors for areas such as:
* Character art and design
* 2D character animation
* Music and sound design
* Gameplay voice acting
* Stages, VFX and UI
* QA and network testing
* Specialist technical work
* Legal and release-related costs
I've already begun contacting professional artists, audio specialists, QA companies and other contractors for real quotes so that production decisions can be based on actual industry pricing.
**A$25,000 is not the game's total development budget.** It is an initial funding goal intended to help move Shining FLUX beyond its current technical prototype stage and begin paying for professional production work.
## The planned game
Shining FLUX is being designed around **20 playable characters at launch**, each with professional gameplay voice acting.
The current audio plan includes approximately **40–45 music deliverables**, including character themes, stage themes, menu and story music, alongside hundreds of sound effects required for combat and presentation.
Professional animation will be one of the project's largest requirements, covering movement, attacks, special moves, supers, reactions and other gameplay states across the roster.
The current priority is producing a high-quality **English-language PC release on Steam**. Additional localisation and console versions may be pursued later through additional funding, game revenue or other opportunities rather than being requirements for the initial Steam release.
## Where your donation goes
Money raised will be used toward the development and production of Shining FLUX, with spending prioritised according to what most effectively moves the project toward commercial release.
The project is still in development, so individual costs and production plans may evolve as I continue receiving professional quotes and determining the best production workflow.
I'm not expecting any one person to fund the game. **Even a small donation helps.** If you can't donate, sharing the fundraiser with somebody who might be interested is also genuinely valuable.
Thank you for helping me take Shining FLUX from the game I've been building largely by myself into the complete fighting game I want players to eventually experience.
