Pledge your support for each of the 45 miles Nick Entsminger runs — and help fund wellness for Humboldt County’s correctional officers!
About the Run:
On Thursday, August 21, 2025, Nick Entsminger, a former Physician Assistant at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility (HCCF), will run 45 miles through mountainous terrain — from the CalFire Station in Bridgeville to the Correctional Facility in Eureka — climbing up to 8,000 feet in elevation. This run, called Run for Resilience, symbolizes the physical and mental challenges faced by law enforcement professionals and raises funds for the HCCF Deputy
Wellness Program.
Pledge a Mile:
Nick is asking the community to pledge a donation for each mile he runs — helping fund wellness, mental health, and resiliency programs for our local deputies.
Here’s how it works:
Pledge Amount per Mile. Total Donation (45 Miles)
$1/mile : $45
$5/mile : $225
$10/mile : $450
$20/mile : $900
Custom amount : You choose!
You can donate your total amount now or pledge publicly in the comments with a custom amount and fulfill it after the run. Either way, your support helps directly fund services that keep our deputies safe, supported, and resilient.
Why It Matters:
Humboldt County correctional officers face high-stress environments and tough conditions that take a toll on their mental and physical health. The HCCF Deputy Wellness Program provides vital support, fitness resources, and counseling to help them stay healthy and strong.
About Nick Entsminger:
Nick worked at HCCF for four years as a Physician Assistant and has decades of experience in emergency medicine, prehospital care, and instruction. He’s taught in the local paramedic program for over 20 years and served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force Reserve at Travis Air Force Base.
“Every mile I run represents the grit and commitment our deputies show every day,” Nick says. “This is about honoring them — and making sure they have the support they need to stay well.”
How You Can Help:
Choose your pledge, make a one-time donation, or spread the word! Whether it’s $1 per mile or more, every contribution makes a difference.
Thank you for helping us build resilience — one mile at a time.
