Help Fund School Supplies at Kamile
Donation protected
Aloha everyone! As the school year gets ready to kick off once again, I am coming to you once again to ask for your help in making sure that all of our children have equitable access to school supplies and funding. I am the 7th and 8th grade science teacher here at the Kamile Academy PCS in Waianae on the west coast of Oahu.
Most of the schools on the island's west side, including Kamaile, are Title I schools, meaning that 50% or more of the students meet the requirements for receiving free or reduced-price lunch. This is the category for schools in the lowest income and funding brackets and desperately need funding to help make sure our students have as many opportunities as possible!
If you are able to donate anything at all, it would be so greatly appreciated by our amazing students. If you may be wondering why I am coming to you year after year asking for help, the fact of the matter is our schools here in Hawaii are severely lacking funding. Just last year the HIDOE budget was slashed %15 across the board to help support the recovery of the Lahina fires in Maui. To provide the basic supplies for our students to be successful in their schoolyear it is crucial we reach for outside sources of support. Funds will be used for basic school supplies, science experiments, and in cases emergency supplies of food and clothing.
