I'm Laura Kriss, here to raise funds for my friend, Ryan Carlson. Ryan suffered a traumatic brain injury several years ago and underwent extensive medical and therapy treatment.

He works very hard to improve his health every day but still needs additional support.

Ryan says:

My name is Ryan Carlson.

I had a very lucrative career in Clinical Toxicology Science for 10 years, but I let alcoholism ruin my life.

One day I blacked out, fell, and struck my head. I awoke in the hospital after being in a coma for 10 days. I had suffered a TBI - a traumatic brain injury. The accident profoundly changed my life. I immediately quit drinking and I remain sober.

Next, I realized how much my 2 young boys needed me to be a strong, loving, and moral father - someone to stand strong with them. Now I put them first!

My traumatic brain injury proved to be too much of a hurdle for my wife and me, and we divorced.

I'm a single parent now with very little income and limited health options. I worked incredibly hard to heal as much as possible from my injury, but I realized I couldn't go back to my former career. I took a different option instead and began studying real estate. I studied hard for 2 years to meet all the requirements. So much stress, it took me 5 attempts to pass my real estate exam. But I did it (no giving up) and now I'm ready to start to build my business.
