Nematullah Azizi a kind and determined 25 year old refugee living in limbo in Indonesia.
Nematullah arrived in Indonesia in 2015 and his family remains in Afghanistan. He is alone, without any family or close relatives and his time in Indonesia has been marked by uncertainty as the Australian government refugees to resettle genuine refuses stuck in Indonesia.
Recently and his health has worsened and he is in urgent need of surgery and ongoing medical care. He is currently experiencing internal bleeding and he cannot walk or even sit comfortably because the pain is so bad. The hospitals in Indonesia will not operate if he cannot pay the required $2500 up front. He has already been waiting over a month.
Nematullah dreams of healing from his illness, receiving the surgery he needs, and one day gaining freedom from the restrictions placed on refugees in Indonesia. His deepest wish is to help his family in Afghanistan, who still live in very difficult conditions. He worries about them constantly and hopes to reunite with them or support them once he is resettled in a safe country.
This is a direct message from Nematullah "The pain has become so unbearable that I can no longer sleep, walk, or sit comfortably. Over the past three days I have been unable to use the toilet at all; when I do attempt to go, I experience excruciating pain and heavy bleeding.
I have reached out repeatedly to UNHCR and other humanitarian organizations, but thus far I have received no assistance. The cost of the necessary surgery far exceeds my means, and I have no family or friends who can support me financially.
Thank you very much for your time and compassion. I would be deeply grateful for any help you can offer."
We are hugely grateful for any donations to support Nematullah.
