Help Fund Raphaela's Brain Surgery
Donation protected
We are raising funds for our 5 year old cousin, Raphaela Darla Serrano, who lives in Quito, Ecuador.
On Wednesday June 19th, 2024, just two days after graduating from Kindergarten, Raphaela was rushed to the hospital after a series of seizures. After multiple tests and a cerebral angiogram, she was diagnosed with Arteriovenous malformation (AVM).
Affecting less than 1% of the population, AVM describes the abnormal connection between arteries and veins in Raphaela's brain.
Doctors recommend Cerebral Embolization as primary treatment for her, as risk of bleeding is high.
Unfortunately, the local government funded Hospital that she is at does not have the equipment, or capabilities necessary, for this procedure.
There is a nearby Private Hospital that can take her - and a children's foundation willing to cover partial costs if the family can raise at least 30% of the total needed for surgery.
The estimated cost of the procedure is $60,000.
With your help, if we can raise the $18,000 needed for the Raphaelita's surgery, the foundation will step in and fund the remaining cost.
Raphaelita says "Thank you for all your help" and that she looks forward to playing with her Princess Ariel dolls, and reading her Children's Bible Stories when she returns home.
