Help fund Public Service season 4!

We hope you're all doing well. We genuinely appreciate everybody who's donated to this Gofundme to help keep Public Service sustainable through the rest of this summer. We wanted to provide an update on where we are in our fundraising:

About 2 weeks ago, we reached our intended goal of $10,000 thanks to your generous donations!

So far as we've gone thru the preseason party, the 1st Public Service of the year, and the collaborative Memorial Day block party in Detroit, we realized we undershot our initial goal of $10,000 by not budgeting for potential damages to Karl's soundsystem.

Given the wear & tear that occurs every load-in, setup, the actual event itself, breakdown & load-out for every service (in addition to the other events Karl helps put together throughout Brooklyn & NYC), Karl's sound unexpectedly suffered 4 blown subwoofers in Detroit!

Had we accounted for these damages initially in our budget it wouldn't have been an issue now but.... we didn't...

So covering these damages ate into a large chunk of our initial budget (equal to what we had originally budgeted for 2 and a half of the 5 Public Services this summer) forcing us to now raise our goal.

We're now budgeting an additional $2000 per Public Service (with 4 more to go) for the rest of the summer to help cover Karl's sound against any potential damages that could occur going forward.

This is our very first attempt at raising funds for something of this size & for this oversight we sincerely apologize. We understand the financial hardships affecting many of us, which is why we are so grateful to each and every one of you for every donation you've kindly sent our way.

Peace family! We hope this finds each & everyone of you well. We are so grateful to see that the weather’s FINALLY gettin

a bit warmer & that only means one thing: Public Service is almost here!

We sooooo can’t wait to be back together with you all again outdoors under the sun. As we gear up for our 4th season of Public Service, we need your help in raising funds to help us cover the considerable costs of putting this season’s 6 Services together (May-Sept with Detroit/Movement weekend too!).

As some of you may or may not know, Public Service is put together by us on a donation only basis. All costs come out of our pockets.

Your financial support will help us cover Karlala Soundsystem’s expenses as well as the labor required to setup & breakdown his soundsystem every Public Service. It will also help us cover

the costs of the permits required by the city to legally put each Service together.

Public Service is for the people, by the people, for that reason we don’t take asking for donations from you

lightly given the current economic issues facing this country & what it takes to survive in NYC; but it’s precisely for that reason we are asking for help because we cannot put Public Service

together this summer without facing considerable financial hardship ourselves.

Public Service is a 100% labor of love by people who treasure New York City & recognize

wholeheartedly what it has given us since this city became our respective home. By helping us,

you are also helping put Public Service together. By the people, for the people & for that we

thank & appreciate you immensely.
