Help fund Lorne Pt Grey VCAT appeal
Donation protected

planning permit at VCAT and your financial support will fund legal representation.
This appeal has given the Lorne community valuable time to come together and work for a better outcome. Many in the Lorne community and those that love Lorne believe the proposed new building is not only inappropriate for the site , it doesn't respect the social and cultural history of the fishing and timber industry ,the men and families that helped establish Lorne. The Fishermen's co op building was built in 1948 and was an integral link in the Victorian west coast couta fishing industry. It's stood for 73 years and until late 2017 was still synonymous with fresh fish sales. The adjoining Pier Seafood Restaurant has been a favorite with locals and visitors alike for over 35 years.
We need to halt the planned demolition of the co op building , get Richard Wynne, the Planning Minister to call in the project and review the decision and the process and find an alternative more suitable outcome with the community's help. If you want to help stop an inappropriate development on this most important site in Lorne then please donate what you can .
Funds will be administered and overseen by three independent members of the Lorne community in accordance with Gofundme regulations.
I'm lan Lovell and l've had a connection to Lorne and Pt Grey since l was a kid in the late 50's helping the fishermen fill the boxes with couta on the pier. My parents built a beach house shack in the mid 50's and l now share it with my sister and her family. I started this fund to pay for the legal representation of a private citizen of Lorne in his VCAT appeal. Lawrence Baker appealed the decision of the Surf Coast Shire in granting the planning permit for GORCAPA to redevelop the Pt Grey Precinct. This includes the demition of the Fishermen's co op building. I feel the community feel strongly about this proposed development and like me many want to help. I felt Lawrie shouldn't have to bear the cost of this action. Most of the money raised by this fundraising campaign will be paid to legal representation at the conclusion of the VCAT hearing in April .
All funds will be transfered into the Friends of Pt Grey Lorne bank account held at the Bendigo bank Lorne. It will be administered by myself Judi Kenneally and Suzanne Diviny. Invoices will be paid from this account and will require authorisations from two two signatories and will be transparent.
Any funds remaining after legal invoices have been paid will go towards a continuing campaign to save the co op building . These will be spent on ongoing costs such as printing, leaflets ,posters and advertising and other campaign costs .
