Written by, produced by and starring a “midnight ballerina,” Pleasers is a film project that aims to highlight the humanity, strength and intelligence of SWers. It is a queer love story, it is a love letter to SWers, and it is an avenue for a dancer to process the life lessons offered to them by the club.

Tired of the vilification, victimization and pure objectification of dancers on screen, Pleasers was written not only as a way to express the author’s own experience in the club, but also as a way to help humanize dancers in an effort to create safer work environments for all club dancers.

All funds will go to the film budget for a series of short films about the club (produced for social media and other online avenues). Currently all funds are coming out of the writer/producer’s own sparkly money bag so this would be a beautiful opportunity to support a SWer’s dreams and elevate this project from volunteer-only to paid and funded! Any excess will go to the full-length feature film based in the same universe as the shorts.
