We are a class of designers making a playground and need some help. We are asking you to help bring joy to children who have had a rough life and help us fund our project. Any amount you can spare will go to a good cause and help some children smile again. If you can share this around, we can hopefully achieve our goal of funding the playground we are currently building. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
More in-depth information is explained further below.
We are students from Emily Carr University studying Industrial Design, creating a playground structure for children in need. It will be donated to them so they can enjoy the play of childhood and heal.
A playground will be made for either the children of Indigenous communities of Canada or the children of communities in South America. We are working with the charity organization Power of Play, and they will choose the exact location to construct the final playground structure that we, 3rd-year Emily Carr Design students, created.
We have many donated materials (explained in detail below), but we still need more to build this playground and help fund the cost of the leftover components.
We have designed with modularity in mind and focused on using as many recycled materials as possible from local companies in British Columbia, Canada. We have collected ocean plastic waste from Ocean Legacy, including netting, rope, and buoys from ocean debris. We also have recycled plastic boards from Good World Materials, made from other ocean waste collected by the Ocean Legacy and processed into new material. We are also using as much repurposed wood from old homes as possible, sourced from Vema Deconstruction. Finally, we are receiving a generous donation of paint from Cloverdale Paint in North Vancouver, which helps bring colour and life to our design.
