Kaibigang Pilipin@ celebrates its 28th Annual Pilipin@ Cultural Celebration (PCC), a theatrical production that presents dancing, singing, music, and an original script. Throughout this production, we hope to preserve Pilipin@ tradition, promote diversity, facilitate student achievement and higher education, and raise awareness in the San Diego community. We have been hosting this event in order to help bring the Philippines closer to our hearts. This event will also serve as a retention aspect to facilitate student achievement and higher education through community development. We will establish a new and/or broader understanding of our interpretation of Pilipin@ American culture.
PCC provides a space in community where Pilipin@ Americans can explore or define their own sense of cultural identity. It is also a chance for Pilipin@ Americans, as an underrepresented minority at UCSD, to come together to meet others. This production aims to give participants their own sense of accomplishment and empowerment as they work towards a common goal with their community.
Due to budget cuts, unfortunately our resource fundings have been significantly reduced. Funding this event has become harder and harder each year as monetary support of it lessens. However each year the community built by the production grows stronger and stronger. We humbly ask for your help to allow us to continue to explore our culture and identity. This production means so much to our community and it cannot happen without your support!
Any contribution would be greatly appreciated. This process is entirely student-run and directed. On top of being scholars, we all serve a goal in educating and retention of our cultural identities.
If you are interested in being recognized as a sponsor for this year's production please email [email redacted] for the sponsorship packet.
