Fund Patty's Podcast for Parents and Educators

In retirement, our very own Patty O'Connor finds a second passion: Podcasting

Patty O'Connor worked as a preschool teacher for 28 years. For twenty of those years, she was the Director of our beloved preschool, Little Feet Community. Upon retiring, O’Connor found that she missed the energy and engagement that Little Feet – the place, the parents, and, above all, the children - had brought to her life. So she decided to start a podcast called Little Feet Community.

We are seeking seed funds to grow and show the import of this podcast - with existing deliverables to recommend its extraordinary potential.

This is not just another story about someone starting a podcast; it is also about a woman finding a second calling in retirement and stepping out of her comfort zone.

Before O’Connor began this project, she worried that she lacked the self-confidence (or the instinct for self-promotion) necessary for podcasting. Much to contrary, her podcast is off to a roaring start, with guests including Caldecott Award-winning children's book illustrator and author Jon J Muth and David J Schonfeld, MD, who established and directs the National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement. The podcast aims to help parents, caretakers, and educators with the difficult task of raising and teaching, dealing with subjects like managing technology; emotional regulation; how to talk to children about difficult topics while still protecting them and giving them some space and time to just be children. O’Connor said, “During my career, I loved talking with parents in the community about their little ones at conference time.” Explains O’Connor, “The podcast has become a way for me to maintain that feeling of community connection as I work to gather helpful advice for parents from experts.”
