Help fund our short film HAIR TIES

My name is Elinor Coleman, an actor and writer from the West Midlands and- together with an incredible team of people- I’m about to make my first short film.  

‘Hair Ties’ is a socially relevant and hopeful story about a mixed race child who is guided by her gregarious and outspoken imaginary friend as she navigates the grief and helplessness of having recently lost her father. It’s a story that looks at
family ties, heritage and childhood needs-all seen through the eyes of a child who desperately wants to have her hair braided again.  

We're shooting the film in Birmingham in the middle of September. Any funds we raise will go towards the cost of equipment, location hire, travel, accommodation, catering and towards paying our cast and crew. 

We’ve assembled a remarkable team of people, all of whom have thrown
themselves into the project with love, on the basis that they want to see it made and your support will mean  that we can ensure everybody is looked after properly.

Some of our team, myself included, come from theatre backgrounds. At the
present moment, with the UK theatre industry facing such an uncertain future,
this film will provide an opportunity for us to diversify our skill sets and enhance
our resilience and ability to remain contributors to the arts landscape.
 

As a first time filmmaker, securing funding is not easy, so we are reaching out to
our networks in the hope that you can help us make this happen.
