Help Fund Oregon Alpine's Season and Regional Race

The University of Oregon Alpine Ski Team has had an incredibly successful season so far with our Women’s team placing 2nd and the Men’s team finishing 4th of 7 teams in the Northwest Collegiate Ski Conference. With notable Individual finishes of Cailin Gahan (sophomore) in 3rd place and Maris Toalson (sophomore) in 6th place overall for the Women, along with Patrick Balazs (freshman) finishing 11th overall for the men. The team is hoping to keep our successful season going as we head to our regional event this week in Red Lodge, Montana. Both teams will be competing for the opportunity to represent the University of Oregon in the National Championship in Lake Placid, New York, in March.

Our successful season has come at a price in many ways as our athletes traveled to Idaho and Washington over four consecutive weekends for races and have been balancing academic work and racing to train every week. In addition, travel and lodging expenses as well as lift-tickets and entry fees are costly, as UO Alpine is a club sports team for the University, we are offered minimal funding. Ski racing teaches each of us the importance of teamwork, dedication, and a balanced lifestyle, lessons that cannot be taught in the classroom and are essential to our development outside of the classroom. A donation to the UO Alpine team would help to fund our athletes attending the Regional competition this year as well as continuing to support our athletes in future years by lowering the cost of travel and covering race entrance fees.

With the success that this outstanding team has seen so far, the future is bright and leaves room for many opportunities and even more accomplishments!
