Obscura follows Julia, a rising fashion model about to break into the industry, gets offered a contract for a photoshoot with a mysterious new camera system promising the most “perfect” and “real” images ever captured. As the technology pushes her to reveal more than she intended, and the manipulation of her tyrant manager, Julia is forced to confront her trauma and how much of herself she’s willing to sacrifice for fame.

At the very core, this film examines identity and visibility, the desire to be seen, validated, and chosen, even when the cost might be psychological or physical. It questions who benefits from technological progress when humans become the raw material, and how often trauma is aestheticized, packaged, and sold back to us as art.
