Help fund NORMAL PLACE: An upcoming comedy series

Mikey Fried (and friends) need YOUR HELP to fund the filming and production of NORMAL PLACE: a comedy webseries about the absurdity of the world around us, and how terrifying and ridiculous it can often be.

SYNOPSIS

NORMAL PLACE follows six down on their luck burnouts who all share the same cramped one-bedroom apartment and their struggles to find stability or joy in a world that is constantly out to get them. They face absurdly high-stakes scenarios from attending CEO-only dinner parties, using sociopathic navigational apps, discovering secret societies aimed at hating specifically them and more hellish, yet familiar situations.

A NOTE FROM THE CREATOR

As I've grown older, my unhealthy obsession with the word "normal" has reached unfathomable heights. We are constantly surrounded by a reality that is pushed to absurdity, a world that increasingly feels like a parody of itself. There is constant conflict, the economy practically doesn’t work, corporations are almost comically unconcerned with human rights and well-being, and we are powerless to do anything about it. Despite all this, we are constantly asked to adjust to this reality, and accept it as "normal."

NORMAL PLACE, at its core, is about struggling to survive in an absurdly hostile and erratic environment. Essentially, what if the world was as crazy as it makes us feel?

With this premise, I assembled an ensemble of incredibly normal people and began to create the show. Each cast member created an episode that pushed a personal anxiety to its most extreme. Sleeping in, running late, friends secretly hating you, things we've all felt on top of the added pressure from the world itself. Each cast member plays the worst version of themself, and fills out the world with any additional characters. You'll see these fine actors play potentially 4 different characters in one episode. The world sometimes feels like its closing in on you, what if it really was?

This show is how I see the world. Strange, dangerous, insurmountable at times, but flavored with pure goofiness. Its how I make the world around me feel normal, and hopefully it helps everyone else feel normal, too.
