Help Fund Nigel's Memorial

Donation protected
Hello everybody! We are raising money to fund a celebration of life in memory of Nigel Everson Wirt. The memorial will take place on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at Adobe Books (3130 24th Street) in the Mission District of San Francisco from 6-9pm.

We lost Nigel suddenly on April 19th, 2024 at the young age of 30. Nigel was a loving son, a dedicated partner, a loyal and affectionate friend, a creative soul, music lover, gardener, excellent cook, and a caring dog dad to his best friend Smokey. Nigel made an everlasting impact on the people who knew him and in the cities that he lived in. He had a child-like curiosity that drove him to pursue an array of interests and professions with absolute conviction. When he was a bike messenger, he rode his bike everywhere and, despite jokes from his friends, even got those clacky shoes that lock your feet onto your bike pedals. When he was a line cook, he worked his way up from a small Japanese curry restaurant seating 25 people to a James Beard-nominated restaurant seating 200 people. Nigel would brim with pride speaking about being part of the success of the restaurant and he is even featured in their cookbook! When he worked at a record store, he spent whole days searching through records to find obscure and cutty hits to build his record collection and knowledge of music. Even when he became fascinated with and started doing graffiti as a teenager, he didn’t know anyone who could teach him. But that didn’t stop him. He practiced everyday and went out tagging by himself, quickly impressing his peers. It wasn’t long before Nigel was accepted into and celebrated within some of the most prolific crews and creative circles in San Francisco. All of Nigel’s passions were fully rendered. Nothing half assed.
Furthermore, Nigel related to and befriended so many people all over the country (and in Taipei!). He had so many facets to his character. He could be mischievous, nerdy, a big cry baby, serious, supportive, silly, headstrong…the list goes on. There is no question that many people around the world have such special and beautiful memories of Nigel. Please do not forget them
We plan to display a collection of photos, art and objects in remembrance of Nigel at the memorial. If you have any photos or digitized art, please email them to: RememberNigel at gmail. If you have physical objects or artwork that you would like to set up, please email us about it at the same email address. We will also print out postcard-sized photos that people can take with them at the event. Let’s keep Nigel’s memory alive⚡️⚡️⚡️

Any donations, no matter how big or small, are extremely appreciated. The bulk of the proceeds will go to Abode Books for hosting, food, drinks, and printing. Any extra will go to Nigel’s mother.
If you are unable to donate, please share this page. Anything is helpful.
