Help fund Neil's recovery
Donation protected
on Sunday, September 3rd, Neil crashed into Little Black Mountain while paragliding near La Jolla, California at 6:30pm. After finding himself in unpredictable wind, Neil began a long fall from the sky, until his wing miraculously filled with air again at 100ft, undoubtedly saving his life before he crashed into the side of the mountain. Nearby hikers who witnessed Neil’s fall called 911 right away. Neil was unconscious for several minutes before EMT officers hiked to him and prepared him to be airlifted to the nearest hospital. Neil suffered several, major injuries from the crash, including a broken back, pelvis, cheekbone. Neil is badly bruised on his head, face and body. He underwent back surgery on Monday, and is experiencing huge amounts of pain. Neil will remain in inpatient care following his acute hospitalization. Aine has stayed in the Hospital with him since Sunday, trying to make him as comfortable as possible despite the pain.
Neil has a long road of recovery ahead of him. The doctors are eager to begin Neil’s PT and OT as soon as possible so he can regain his mobility. To help alleviate the financial stress of his hospital stay and the weeks of care ahead of him, please consider donating to our fundraiser for Neil’s medical expenses. Neil is a beloved family member, friend, and husband, and we are eager to see him recover fully in the weeks ahead.
