Hello Friends and Family,
My name is Daniel Bisagni and my family and I are raising funds for my sister Naomi's funeral. This unexpected tragedy has shaken us all and taken her away from us much too soon. She was only 53 years old, we expected to have her around for fifty more. She passed away suddenly after injuries sustained from a fall. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance and passed away the following day.
Just by chance, over the past few weeks, she saw many family members she hadn't seen in a while, a brother drove over from Indiana with his family, a sister and her daughter from Washington, DC. None of us had final goodbyes on our minds.
Over the past year, she had been struggling with weight loss and muscle loss due to her dystonia, but she was getting through it, seeing a physical therapist, a cardiologist and keeping up with her primary care doctor. When one of her children was recently hospitalized with a thyroid condition, she was there to give advice, listen to the doctors and cheer her daughter on.
Naomi was the second of eight children. Although people always estimated her life would be smaller than it became, she had three beautiful children and a grand baby, Bryan, who she loved with all her heart. She was passionate about her family and equally passionate about life.
She was a generous, sweet and loving person - to people, animals and plants - and so easy for others to love. She loved the Lord Jesus! She loved music and loved to sing! She had an incredible mind for math. She learning complicated government services systems which were a staple in her life. She loved to work, and fought against the constraints that kept her underemployed and underpaid. She was the perfect mix of disability advocate and someone who didn't see her own disability. She would save up so she could go on annual trips to Washington DC to advocate for dystonia research, meeting with lawmakers, NIH researchers and other disability advocates. Naomi had dystonia, but dystonia didn't have her: she never let it keep her from living life.
She loved to drive; it brought her freedom and a way to further help and support her friends and family. She remembered every family member's birthday (grandparents, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins) and never failed to call us on them.
Any support you can offer, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated and will go directly to paying funeral costs. Many of us are going through hard financial times, so we understand if you cannot donate. Sharing this page with others is also a much appreciated support.
