My name is Troimyha Taylor, but everyone calls me Myha, and I have a dream of turning my love for cooking into a future that makes my family proud.

I’m 15 years old, a proud Norfolk native, and a freshman at Booker T. Washington High School, one of the most historically significant Black high schools in Virginia. I’m proud to attend Booker T, the same school my father went to, and I’m determined to continue that legacy of excellence.

I’ve been an honor roll student since elementary school because I take my education seriously and understand the importance of working hard for my future.

Outside the classroom, I stay active in my community. I run track, serve in the Ambassadors of Christ youth ministry at Faith Deliverance Christian Center, and participate in Upward Bound, a college preparatory program.

But my true passion is cooking.

Whether I’m baking with my cousin Miracle, helping my mom prepare meals, or working as my uncles’ sous chef during the holidays, cooking is where I feel most connected. It’s more than just food to me. It is about bringing people together, creating joy, and building community with the people I love.

Because of my hard work and passion, I’ve been selected as a 2026 Invited Scholar for the Culinary Experience at the Culinary Institute of America, powered by Envision by WorldStrides.

This is a highly selective, hands-on program where I will train in professional kitchens, learn directly from experienced chefs, and develop real culinary skills at one of the top culinary schools in the country.

The program will take place in New York City, a place that is especially meaningful to me because my grandmother was born and raised in Harlem.

Now I need your help to get there.

I’m working to raise $5,000 to cover tuition, travel, housing, and program expenses. This opportunity has the power to change the direction of my future and bring me one step closer to my dreams.
