I was very hesitant to create this account, simply because I just don’t like asking for help, especially in a monetary sense. So please know that prior to making the decision to do this, I’ve exhausted all my efforts to prevent having to do so and trying to figure it out on my own.
I’ve recently applied for disability, and we all know what a lengthy process that is; in most cases, your application is denied at least once before it’s approved. I’ve researched the criteria to file a claim with Workers' Compensation, and I don’t meet the requirements for that. Also, I’m physically unable to work at this point. That being said, here’s my conundrum.
While delivering packages for UPS during Peak Season (Christmas 2025), I sustained what I had thought to be a pulled muscle. Figured it would heal on its own after a couple of weeks. The pain only got worse, which resulted in me getting around with the assistance of a cane. Finally, I was able to go to the doctor and have X-rays done. To my surprise, the images showed that I had a broken pelvis. I was then sent to an orthopedic specialist who ordered further imaging: MRI and Bone Density Test to see if the fracture could be due to osteoporosis. My out-of-pocket responsibility or co-pay to have these images done is $300. Until I can get these images done, I can’t proceed towards treatment or begin the healing process, let alone get back to work.
