SUPPORT "Rebound" (Queer fantasy) Post-Production

Hi, my name is Paola Dicent and I'm a filmmaker studying film production at Brooklyn College. Art and creativity have always been integral to my life, and I channel that passion through filmmaking and photography.

As someone who proudly represents the intersectionality of being a queer Dominican-American woman, I focus on stories led by women of color and those in the LGBTQ+ community in genres such as fantasy, horror, science-fiction, and speculative fiction. I want to illuminate diverse perspectives and experiences while pushing boundaries and sparking conversations.

Last semester was all about writing my screenplay, and now it's time to get the camera rolling this semester to turn it into a reality. What is the story about?

After failing to stop Teresa's suicide, Sabine grieves for her vampire maker and lover. Desperate for solace, she has a chance encounter with a human named Amaya who unexpectedly saves her one night. Sabine finds herself torn between a potential new love and her past as she grows closer to Amaya while battling haunting visions of Teresa.

"First Light" is a 10-minute Horror/LGBTQ+ Romance live-action short film that is set to start production in May 2024 in NYC.
