Help Fund My Mother's Hand Surgery - URGENT HELP NEEDED

On Friday night 10/25/2024, my mom, Gloria Martinez-Granados, made a split second mistake that anyone could make. She simply cut her hand on a knife while doing the dishes.

My mother rushed to the ER when she discovered that she was completely unable to move her ring finger and half of her pinky, with little movement in her other fingers as well. This morning on 10/28/2024, we received the unfortunate news that she would need surgery because of two severed tendons in her hand.

Gloria is the most talented mom I could have ever asked for. Currently showing her cross-stitch piece titled "Retratro de Pablo" and her other cross-stitch piece titled "My Mother's Hands" at the Phoenix Art Museum, she is a hardworking artist who has created impact across multiple communities through her art. Though hardworking or not, art-making continues to be a difficult career to pursue because of the lack of financial stability.

As an emerging artist, movement of her hand, especially her dominant one, is necessary to create the intricately detailed work that she makes. She has tirelessly pursued her passion despite the financial sacrifices she has been forced to make, such as a lack of health insurance.

After spending her life serving her community, we now must unfortunately ask that same community to help support her and the many years she has to come of creating space for dialogue through her artwork.

All of the funds will go towards her ER bills, surgeons fee, facility fees, anesthesiologist fees, follow-up appointments, and physical therapy that is necessary for a full recovery post-surgery.

This type of injury requires quick attention before any permanent damage begins to occur. We have a goal of raising this money by Wednesday night in hopes of being able to afford the surgery on Thursday.
