Hi I'm Richards, Seun Richards, and almost a year ago, I relocated to the UK, following my dreams of being a better filmmaker. I am currently studying at the prestigious METFILM school, London, and in order to graduate every student is expected to make a shortfilm (fictional narrative, documentary or music video).
For my graduating project, I am drawing inspiration from the legendary afrobeat musician, Fela, and how he went about using his background and struggles to create a musical genre (Afrobeat as we know it). As such, my film, "RHYTHM UNSUNG", tells the story of a Nigerian musician who travelled to the UK (in the 60s) in search of greener pastures. After struggling as one of many Jazz musicians in London, he is inspired to lean into his roots to create an original song which lands him on radio.
As a creative whose move to the UK was also somewhat in search of greener pastures, this story personally speaks to the core of my identity, hence the importance of this film to me. More so, upon my graduation, this film is my calling card in the film and Tv industry. And without this film, I really can't graduate film school.
So please help me make this film a reality!
Thank you!!!
