Hi everyone,
Update: I found out some news about the clinic I was going to operate under. They are not plastic surgeons so I have chosen to go with another surgeon, a little more expensive, but I will only be needing 2 surgeries rather than 3-4 with a shorter recovery period.
Last year I was diagnosed with stage 2 early stage 3 lipoedema. This disease is super painful and affects my quality of life. Right now my fat is still soft and easy for a surgeon to extract which would be the best time for me to get surgery. Unfortunately I would need to take out a loan as each surgery costs $13,500 AUD.
I need 3-4 rounds of surgery ( I will find out on the 28th of January how many I will need ). I have 15L of this fat in my lower body, I also have clumps of it in my stomach and in my arms. To ensure this disease won’t come back I’ll need to have it removed completely all over my body.
As much as I love my body shape, this is bringing me so much pain and discomfort and will only progressively get worse over time.
After each surgery I will need 8 weeks to recover plus around 3x professional drainage massages to drain the liquid from my body. All around we could be looking at 50-60K but I’m hoping I will only need the 3 surgeries.
This disease is not recognised by Medicare or private health as it is classed as cosmetic. However it’s only when I am unable to walk and progress to the last phase, lymphoedema, where the health system wants to cover a small part of surgery.
No pressure at all to donate, but, I will be documenting the whole process if you’d like to follow along.
