Help Me Start My First Quarter - Remote Village in Nepal to the University of Washington

I’m Sangita, the first in my family to attend university.

After growing up in a remote Nepal village where few can continue past high school, I’ve earned scholarships to study across the world, and now I’m finally starting my Master’s in Information Systems (MSIS) at the University of Washington Foster on April 2, 2026.

This is the dream I’ve worked hard toward for years. But with classes already begun, I urgently need to cover the remaining costs for my first quarter. I have two weeks to raise the last $4,500 so I can focus fully on my studies.

My Journey
I was one of four Nepali students awarded a full UWC scholarship to study IB at UWC Robert Bosch College. Adapting to a rigorous international curriculum without much English background taught me resilience.

Next, I earned a BA in Business Administration at The College of Idaho with a full scholarship, along with three minors and a Leadership specialization.

I also completed a global “Semester at Sea ” voyage in 2023, studying in multiple countries, which opened my eyes to global challenges and the power of technology in development. Each step has been possible only through scholarships, hard work, and support from caring communities.

Why This Degree Matters
As Malala said, “One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.” Growing up in a small village in Nepal, I witnessed firsthand how many children never had the chance to learn simply because they couldn’t afford it. Education transformed my life, and now I aim to leverage my business background and technology skills to create opportunities for others.

With the MSIS degree, I plan to:
  • Develop solutions for underserved communities - applying data and technology to expand access through digital learning tools and community projects.
  • Lead impactful initiatives - bridging technology and education to benefit regions like my home village and many more.
  • Mentor students from underserved backgrounds - showing that even children in remote areas can achieve big dreams.

Pursuing this program at such a prestigious university is more than a personal goal - it is a chance to give back. Every resource invested in students like me enables education to break barriers and open doors for those who need it most.

Financial Breakdown (First Quarter)
My Program is an accelerated 15-month course divided into 5 quarters. Each UW MSIS quarter costs approximately $13,000 for international students. Here’s the breakdown for my first quarter:

  • Tuition for this quarter: $13,500
  • Out of pocket (from my savings): $5,000
  • Scholarship awarded for this quarter: $2,000

  • Total covered (personal+scholarships): $7,000
  • Funds raised so far: $2,000
  • Total Secured so far: $9,000

  • Remaining need (goal for this quarter): $4,500

So far, with personal funds and scholarships, I have $7,000 covered, and thanks to generous support, I’ve raised an additional $2,000, bringing the total to $9,000. I now need $4,500 more to reach the full tuition amount.

How You Can Help
Every donation, no matter the size, goes directly toward my tuition, and even sharing means the world.

Please consider donating what you can or simply sharing my story. I promise to keep you updated on the impact of your gift. This first quarter sets the stage for my whole degree; with your help, I can achieve my goal.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for believing in me and making this opportunity possible.
