Help Me Unlock the Promise of Psychedelic Assisted Therapy
Dear friends, supporters, and changemakers,
My name is Yaeli, and I am embarking on a vital and deeply personal journey to pursue an MSc in Psychology—a foundational step toward becoming a trauma-informed researcher, therapist, and advocate in the growing field of psychedelic-assisted therapy.
This work is urgently needed. We are living through a global mental health crisis. Rates of PTSD, complex trauma, depression, and anxiety are rising, and far too many survivors of sexual violence remain trapped in cycles of emotional pain, body dissociation, and disconnection—despite years of conventional therapy.
I am seeking to raise £25,000 to fund my education and related expenses so I can dedicate myself to building a career that supports long-term, embodied healing for those most in need.
Why This Work Matters
The effects of trauma—especially sexual trauma—are often invisible but profound. Survivors experience long-term impacts that touch every area of life: relationships, nervous system regulation, identity, and the ability to feel safe in one’s own body.
Some key realities:
- 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men globally will experience sexual violence in their lifetime
- In the UK, over 750,000 children are estimated to experience sexual abuse annually
- Survivors are 3–5 times more likely to suffer from PTSD, anxiety, and depressio
- PTSD alone affects more than 8 million people globally each year
- Standard treatment often falls short: many survivors remain stuck in survival mode, unable to access deeper healing
The Transformative Promise of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy
Trauma often resides in the body, not just in memory. Verbal therapy alone can struggle to reach the depths of the nervous system where trauma is held.
Psychedelic-assisted therapy—when delivered in safe, therapeutic settings—offers a powerful new path for healing.
Breakthrough research has shown:
- In Phase 3 trials, 67% of participants in MDMA-assisted therapy no longer met the criteria for PTSD after three sessions
- Psilocybin-assisted therapy has demonstrated a 70%+ reduction in treatment-resistant depression and trauma symptoms
- These therapies enhance neuroplasticity, allow for emotional reconnection, and often lead to lasting changes in self-awareness, empathy, and resilience
For many, these experiences are described as among the most meaningful of their lives—bringing hope where little existed before.
My Goal and Career Trajectory
This MSc is the beginning of a long-term professional path. I intend to:
- Continue into postgraduate study and academic research
- Specialise in trauma recovery and psychedelic-assisted interventions
- Become a therapist, educator, and consultant in this field
- Advocate for expanded, trauma-informed, accessible mental health services
My mission is to help evolve how we treat trauma—through both scientific integrity and compassionate care.
How Funds Will Be Used
Your support will directly cover:
- Tuition fees and academic materials
- Childcare and living expenses during full-time study
- Travel costs and attendance at essential placements and training workshops
- Research tools and access to continued development opportunities
As a single mother, this opportunity means creating a secure and meaningful future—not only for myself and my children, but for the many lives I hope to positively impact through my work.
How You Can Help
Every contribution—no matter the size—makes a tangible difference. If you're unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your network is equally powerful.
Supporters can also opt in to receive occasional updates on my progress, academic milestones, and research contributions in the field of trauma therapy.
The Bigger Picture: A Ripple Effect of Healing
This work is bigger than me. It’s about building a future where survivors of sexual trauma are not only treated—but truly healed. Where therapy is not limited by outdated models or financial barriers. And where healing is scientific, embodied, and human-centered.
By supporting this journey, you're investing in a new vision for mental health—one rooted in evidence, empathy, and innovation.
With deep Gratitude & Love,
Yaeli
