As you all know, teachers receive practically zero funding for supplies for our students. A couple days before the 2020 school year arrived, my school district decided to reduce our budget by over 40%- giving teachers barely $2 per student and for the entire school year (compared to a whopping $6 before that).
As I embark on Year 1 of my teaching career, the lack of funding is not only extremely disappointing, but also overwhelmingly disheartening. I've worked incredibly hard to get to this starting point in my career, and it would be that much easier if I were able to buy the supplies that my classroom and students need. If you choose to donate, your money will go towards supplies for my classroom, students, and overall resources that will be needed to teach from afar this school year. (The art supplies I need unfortunately are not exclusive to Amazon :(, which is why a gofundme is the best option rather than an amazon wishlist. Sorry for any inconveniences!)
For anyone who needs a comprehensive list of supplies I will be purchasing over time with the money raised, this is the minimum of what I will need:
- paint
- appropriate shading pencils and tools (class sets)
- sketchbooks
- paint/paint brushes (class sets)
- quality colored pencils (class sets)
- proper art supply storage equipment (class sets)
- types of artist paper (multiple kinds for multiple mediums)
- items/furniture/organizational items that contribute to the set up and overall flow of my classroom
- paint/painting supplies for the walls
This list will undoubtedly get longer as the school year goes on. Whatever you can donate is GREATLY appreciated! And in advance: thank you thank you THANK YOU all so much for whatever you can contribute <3
