WHAT IS THIS PROJECT?

Hello! This is my upcoming film "If Only For Memories," written and soon to be directed by me, Matthew Ari Roman.

"If Only For Memories" follows a man named Nathan who is slowly processing his grief for his recently deceased fiancée, Margot. As he fails to process his grief, Nathan searches for his love in the only place he can see her: in his dreams.

This film is essentially my meditation on the bargaining phase of grief. Thank you very much for your support!

WHO AM I?

My name is Matthew Roman, but I go by my middle name, Ari. I am a filmmaker and actor based in both Buffalo and Syracuse, New York. Having studied and worked on set in four countries, I am interested in the perspectives that can be represented and integrated into film. While my focus is in film, I have a past in history studies, esports producing, video game development, and photography.

​I am pursuing a BFA in film at Syracuse University, College of Visual and Performing Arts. Meanwhile, I’ve been employed by the VPA Equipment Cage where I have become proficient in various equipment spanning filmmaking, photography, animation, etc. Constantly, I am searching for a place to test what I’ve learned in these spaces. In total, I have worked on 50+ short film sets, one feature film set, and one reality TV series. The work that I am most proud of are: My work on Soudabeh Moradian’s “The Mermaid,” my work as co-writer, co-director, and producer of “Felix” by Rob Petrie and myself, and finally my work as co-writer and co-director on "KISS OF GOD" by Piper Mohring and myself.

​I enjoy writing, directing, and doing any job on set. Ideally, I’d like to be a writer/director and I’d like to support that financially by working on sets as a gaffer or DP. I’d also like to find a way to include my passion for esports producing in my life.​​
