Help Macayla study abroad in the archeology field

Hello, my name is Macayla, and I’m a student at Weber State University in Utah, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and Archaeology. I’m deeply passionate about my field of study, and I’m working hard to graduate in the spring of 2026 with plans to further my education in the UK.

Unfortunately, due to an unexpected staffing shortage at Weber State, a key course required for my degree has been canceled for next summer (2025). This course won’t be offered again until 2026, which means I’m at risk of delaying my graduation unless I find an alternative.

As part of my research into other alternatives, I have found a field school of my dreams, the Blackfriary Archaeology Field School in Ireland. This program offers a five-week excavation and osteology-focused field school that will provide invaluable hands-on experience, expanding my knowledge and directly aligning with my career goals. It’s a chance to not only learn but also to live and work in a field that I’m deeply passionate about. It’s truly a dream come true for me.

However, while I initially believed I could fund this experience through my FAFSA and Pell Grant, I recently found out that these funds cannot be applied to the Blackfriary Field School. The total cost of the program is about $6,000, not including airfare, and despite my best efforts to save up, I’m falling short.
