Help Fund My ADHD Meds Prescriptions
Donation protected
Please help me get the support that I need with my ADHD.
At the end of March I attended a private consultation with ADHD Scotland in Glasgow. There it was confirmed that I have ADHD and PTSD. Whilst outwith the scope of that consultation, I also screened for ASD, having suspected that I am neurodiverse for over three years. I have also screened for ASD and ADHD through my GP and was referred to an NHS specialist.
Because of the SNP government's piecemeal funding of mental health services and NHS Lothian's dereliction of duty to adult neurodiverse people, I have been waiting to be seen for over two years. This was the reason for seeking the private diagnosis, funded by my elderly parents, having been led to believe that shared care might be possible through my GP.
Upon presenting my diagnosis to my GP, I was told that it would not be accepted owing to it coming from the private sector, despite the consultation being thorough and carried out to medical standards, ADHD medication was refused. I have been told that my only option in the short term is to have a second private consultation to ascertain dosage, and to pay for my prescriptions in full. This I am prepared to do with your support.
As my ADHD severely impairs my capacity to work, I work freelance, when I can in the arts sector, and am in receipt of Adult Disability Payment and Universal Credit. However, this will not cover the cost of the prescriptions in either the short or the long term.
Whilst I challenge NHS Lothian Policy, having enlisted the support of my MSP and MP, I am asking for your help to get me over this next hurdle.
For every donation over £100 I will compose a poem in Gaelic and English on a subject of your choice. Please ensure that your contact information accompanies your donation, or contact me with your reference through my website, here.

Many thanks for your support.
