Medical Students of Middle Eastern Descent (MSMD) at the University of Michigan Medical School was founded in 2004 to foster community among North African and Middle Eastern medical students.
We are starting this GoFundMe to support medical student run initiatives, which includes a community health screening event. This event will take place on May 22nd at a local mosque that serves vulnerable populations. At this event, we hope to provide accessible services such as blood pressure checks, A1C blood testing, and mammogram referrals.
Your support will help us cover the cost of supplies, educational materials, and event logistics. One of our major expenses is A1C testing supplies, which cost approximately $1,000 for 100 test strips. These kits allow us to screen community members for elevated blood sugar and help connect them to follow-up care when needed.
Every donation will directly support our ability to serve more community members and continue expanding MSMD’s outreach efforts. We truly appreciate any contribution.
