Help Fund MIRROR: The Web Series

Donation protected

Hello Everyone,

My name is Calvin “Kalvo” Griffin and I am director and screenwriter behind the new horror web series, “MIRROR.”

In the midst of the 2020 Pandemic lockdown, I found myself, like most people, with more free time than I was accustomed too. As a screenwriter, this allowed me the opportunity to challenge myself to step outside the box and comfort zone and try something new.

I decided to write a horror script centered around an African American family that was not based on any underlying racial issue. I wanted it to be an authentic horror story that people could find relatable and be captivated by when hearing about it.

When thinking of what to write, I asked myself the question what scares me and I instantly thought back to my childhood.

As kids, we are sometimes told stories, or urban legends, in attempt to scare us. Some of these stories include the monster in the closet/under the bed, the slender man and countless others. However when I was younger, I found myself being scared of the story of Bloody Mary. Bloody Mary is said to be an evil spirit trapped within mirrors that becomes free once you repeat her name multiple times

I took this old tale and used it as inspiration for what was initially meant to be a short film. The idea into a 10 episode web series. Although I have prior experience working on different web series, this is the first one that I have written.

It’s amazing as a creative to be able to bring to life a story that so many people from different generations grew up hearing about. “MIRROR” is my own personal take on the urban legend centered around the life of a young woman.

Years after experiencing a family tragedy, a haunted woman must come face to face with her past in order to protect her friends from Bloody Mary.

The series takes place in both a 1998 middle class suburb and a present day city.

I invite you to become a part of our team by making financial contributions to helping us reach our goal in funding this web series. With your help, I am confident that we can raise the necessary funds to create something that we all can be proud of. The goal is to make a professional quality web series worthy of Hollywood in my current city of Pensacola, Florida. No donation is too small and I am grateful for any contribution submitted.

We are projected to shoot the entire series in six full days. The money raised from this gofundme campaign will provide finances to compensate our cast and crew, as well as cover costs including renting gear, props, wardrobe, craft services, hair/makeup artists, and post production fees.

By contributing to this gofundme, you are not only helping to further my dream, but you are also contributing to the dreams of other people involved. Local filmmakers and talent will be able to work on a high profile film project in their native area. They will be also be able to add to their personal resumes the roles that they played in the production of “MIRROR,” helping to hopefully boost their individual careers.

Our hopes are to start production on the series soon!

Thank you again for assisting us in bringing "MIRROR" to life!
